Galway struck two goals in the closing stages to secure a vital victory over Mayo.

The promising Tomo Culhane, who scored 1-4, converted a penalty with five minutes remaining before substitute Niall Cunningham sealed the deal.

Ciaran Mylett registered five points for Mayo, but Galway with Nathan Grainger prominent held on to earn a crucial success.

Eoghan Smith’s seven point haul helped Sligo claim the spoils against Leitrim.

Lee Deigan was influential contributing four points, while Oisin Hynes added a goal for Sligo.
